Last month we took a trip to Germany, and visited the wonderful Erlebnispark Tripsdrill. It is located less than an hour from the large city of Stuttgart, it is also less than 2 hours drive away from Mannheim, Strasbourg, and Baden-Baden (Airport). We had no issues arriving with our hire car, and were really taken away by the scenery on the journey in the area. The park also generously provide free parking.
The area of the park upon entering has such a lovely traditional charm, and includes lots of family attractions. There is a self pedaling monorail ride, a slide inside a windmill, bicycles, a family coaster, plus many other fun and unique attractions.
The other half of the park is where the main attractions are located. This opened after the rest of the park and Karacho was the first the first on our list to experience. It's a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster, which incorporates a launch instead of the traditional lift hill, with a well thought out & paced layout providing the perfect combination of a fun and thrilling ride experience. The themeing of the ride was highly impressive, especially inside the station. We particularly liked the test seat at the ride entrance fully themed to a vehicle. Next up was Mammut the park's wooden rollercoaster which is themed very well around a saw mill, with plenty of themeing in the station, and a unique pre lift-hill section. The ride itself is unbelievably smooth for a wooden coaster, it needs to be ridden to be believed.
The other attractions in the area are a big family coaster and two water rides. G'sengte Sau is a fun custom layout 'wild mouse' type rollercoaster, which really picked up some speed, especially twisting and turning through the castle themeing that it shares with the Log Flume. Badewannen-Fahrt zum Jungbrunnen is their large log flume with multiple drops which you travel along in a bath tub. The themeing of this ride is very bizarre but we thought it was great, and the ride itself didn't disappoint with a big finale drop. Their other water ride is Waschzuber Rafting, which translated to English is washtub rafting, and that's exactly what it is themed to. The queue has an impressive walk-through with animatronics, and once you board the 'washtubs' you set off on a wet and wild rapids ride.
Tripsdrill have invested in a Gerstlauer Sky Fly for 2017, unfortunately during our visit (at the beginning of the season) it was still being constructed. We have experienced the ride type before, and we're sure it will be a great addition to the attraction lineup at the park.
We had the opportunity to film a couple of Point of View videos on the park's headline rollercoasters. (Note: We gained special permission to record on the attractions)
Tripsdrill is such a lovely park, with beautiful surroundings, impressive themeing, friendly staff, and a great variety of rides. We had a really enjoyable visit and would love to visit again in the future.
We incorporated Tripsdrill into our Germany theme park trip which consisted of Holiday Park & Europa Park as well. We strongly feel it is difficult to compare the parks, as each one has it's own charm and atmosphere. One thing they all share in common is world-class rollercoasters in their attraction lineup, and are not to be missed!
