COMPLETE: Thrilling New Waterparks (2019 UK & Europe)

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

There are a number of exciting new waterpark developments opening in 2019 across the UK and Europe, take a look below at the list we've compiled...

SC2 Rhyl

Rhyl, Wales, UK

Opened: April 2019

The seaside town of Rhyl in North Wales now has a small waterpark with modern slides after its previous leisure complex closed back in 2014!

The waterpark features 3 slides. The Anaconda, Speedster & Boomerang all offer different experiences for the whole family, as well as indoor and outdoor kids water play areas.

The new complex also features an interactive TAG arena.

Waterworld (Expansion)

Stoke-on-Trent, England, UK

Opening: Summer 2019

Waterworld is a large indoor waterpark that has been open since 1989 and boasts 7 main waterslides as well as a (not so) lazy river, wave pool and kids water play areas.

The complex is doubling in size and incorporating a new gym, crazy golf and more. The most important part of the expansion which is also due to be completed first is the four new giant watersides, which are set to be much bigger than anything they already have.

The attractions will be manufactured by Polin Waterslides and will incorporate a variety of features, some unique to the UK. The slides will be full of colour with translucent natural lighting throughout in lots of shapes and patterns. The most thrilling of the 4 slides will be the capsule drop slide where riders stand in a chamber in an upright position, and the floor drops out below them sending them on their way down the slide!

The Wave

Coventry, England, UK

Opening: Summer 2019

Coventry are getting their very own waterpark named The Wave with 6 headline waterslides and various other features.

This exciting development is well underway and full details have been released for 4 of the 6 waterslides so far. The Riptide is the key attraction which is a watercoaster that uses water jets to propel you uphill as well as the drops and turns as you'd expect from a normal slide. There's also The Riptide which is a giant half pipe slide, The Cascade which is a family body slide, and The Crestar which is a combo slide featuring a unqiue sphere & tube bowl sections. Keep your eyes peeled for the final 2 attractions to be announced and a specific opening date.

The waterpark are asking for people to apply for the chance to become a slide tester, find out more here

Bellewaerde Aquapark

Bellewaerde, Ieper, Belgium

Opening: 1st July 2019

Bellewaerde a well known family theme park in Belgium is opening their own brand new waterpark. It will include 3 headline waterslides, kids water play areas, a lazy river and more.

The Aquaventure family slide can accommodate up to 4 people in a raft, they then slide along a course of 117 meters. The slide becomes exciting when visitors suddenly find themselves on a giant leaf in the open which is a unqiue European first. There's also Splash Clash which consists of two slides that make the descent parallel to each other. One or two visitors take a seat in a ring and glide along a 105-meter course during an exciting race down to the ground floor. The competition is further strengthened thanks to an individual lighting system. During the entire race, the slide turns green for the winning team and red for the losing team. The race time is shown at the end of the ride. The 3 slides start at a height of 12 meters.

Bellewaerde Aquapark is ensuring a premium experience including a transport system for the rings of the slides to be brought up on, as well as a warm water temperature of 32C throughout the year. They're also installing sound-insulating panels to ensure better acoustics.
