Alton Towers has released information on plans for the 2016 season, alongside opening times and a new scheme to improve the park.
Alton Towers has today released on their blog (which can be found here) that they have a few new exciting features to show us in 2016. Not many people realise how much work goes on in the closed season and therefore, over the next few months, Alton Towers are going to be blogging all the behind the scenes updates to show us what they have been up to!
First of all, they have 2 new attractions lined up for the 2016 season. This is likely to be about the updates to Air with it having some form of improvements being done on it. The blog states that they have a new "ground-breaking ride experience and a very unique restruant unlike any other in the UK coming in 2016",
Alongside this, they have also listed a new coffee shop and new entertainment will also be debuting next year.
Next up, they have listed a new improvement scheme called 'Towers Loving Care'. This scheme is going to help improve the resort from redoing pathways, improving signage and refurbishment of current attractions. This scheme is currently going to last for the next 3 years taking us through to 2018 where hopefully the resort will be looking even better than it currently is now!
Finally, they have released the 2016 opening times for the resort and water park. Noticeable changes show that they are following the likes of Legoland Windsor Resort by closing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through-out the off-peak season to save money. These months include selected days from April, May, September, October and November! This totals up to 26 closed days during off-peak that the park would normally be open.
Scarefest and Fireworks will also be taking a slight cutback in the 2016 season, with these events seeing a cut from 3 firework evenings to 2, whilst Scarefest is going to start on the 8th of October, running for 2 weekends before continously running through to the 31st of October, totalling to 15 days of Scarefest fun!
Alton Towers have stated that the resort will not be open for February half term which it has been over the past few years. The season will start on Saturday 19th of March!
More information should be released soon over the closed season, so keep checking back for more information!
