Since the end of the 2015 season, speculation has been around regarding the future of Air. Today, Alton Towers have finally released further details on the improved re-theme of Air, or from now on Galactica!
Galactica is the world's first rollercoaster dedicated to virtual reality. The now fully immersive coaster is set to be themed around the adventures of space as you fly by stars and speed past other galaxies using new technology in virtual reality headsets. Each rider will have the chance to try out the new virtual reality headsets as they get on board or you they can choose to opt out and ride without the VR headset.
Today during the press launch at Londons Science Museum, Alton Towers marketing director said "There is nowhere else in the world that people can experience the feeling of a flying rollercoaster combined with soaring through the universe. For two minutes, our guests will be transported into space and we believe Galactica showcases the future for theme parks around the world – it’s a complete game changer!”
Virtual reality has been an ever growing trend with each year more research and technology being discovered. Gaming headsets to movie experiences are becoming more of the future.
On top of this release, the launch date has been confirmed for sometime in April. Alton Towers have also released an advertising website and video to go on along with the new project for the 2016 season. The website is interactive and has lots of information about space themed objects.
