Last year, Alton Towers released a blog announcing that for the next 3 years they will be starting a scheme to spring some life back into the Alton Towers Resort. They will be repainting rides, making adjustments to queue lines and even relaying pathways.
The project is called Towers Loving Care and hard work can already be seen across the park during the off season. A twitter account has been set up and pictures have been shared of the work that has been carried out so far.
First of all, work has started outside the park by refurbishing the roofs of the kiosks for admissions, giving them a fresh and clean look. Work has also begun in the park, with the outside of The Frog Hopper building which is getting re-rendered and repainted with sceneic artwork.
Next up, some of the food outlets and restaraunts have had improvements made to them with the inside and outside recieving a new lick of paint and improving the presentation of the building.
One of the biggest updates which is currently being completed is the work on one of Alton Towers most loved rides, Nemesis. The track has been completely repainted, along with the station's scenic painting. The total for all of this work is costing around £120k.
Other work has also been completed in the Dark Forest where the scaffolding around Rita has now been removed and replaced with a new fence which makes the area look a lot better than recent years. Fresh paint has been applied in the queueline for Ice Age and over in Mutiny Bay the food outlets have received some new paint to give the area a new lease of life. Also in Mutiny Bay, Battle Galleons has had a deep and thorough clean!
More work is due to be completed over the next 3 years and this is only the start of the project!
