Secret Weapon 8 Plans Reveal Wooden Rollercoaster For 2018!

Earlier today, Alton Towers Resort Secret Weapon 8 plans were published online, which has given us a first insight into the future coaster for 2018!

For 2018, a wooden rollercoaster is set to be present in the Katanga Canyon & Mutiny Bay area. This is set to replace The Flume and use the area around there. The new ride will not venture into the woodland allowing the area that was taken up by The Flume, time to turn back into it's natural state.

Looking into the plans, you can see it will include a wooden rollercoaster structure, noise screens and sound tunnels. The ride will also have a magnetic silent lift hill which could indicate a possible launch in the ride. The ride only shows a 10 metre lift hill and possibly one inversion which all factors into a possible launch section in the ride. Airtime hills, a 140 second pre show area for 48 people and a indoor section by the station all included in these plans.

There is expected to be game stands, a shop building, a station and pre show area to be built around the area to feature in with SW8. Construction is expected to take place around September 2016 with it expected to be completed in December 2017, allowing time for it to open in the early 2018 season.

If accepted, this will be the first wooden coaster to be built in the UK since Megafobia, which opened at Oakwood in 1996!
