REVIEW | Derren Brown Ghost Train | Press Night

On Thursday 21st of July, the Thrill Nation team was invited down to Thorpe Park for the launch of Derren Browns Ghost Train. Below is our thoughts of the night.

Derren Brown Ghost Train is a "world's first one-of-a-kind experience like you have never seen before". The ride is based back in the Victorian age with Derren Brown re-imagining it with the 21st Century Ghost Train. The Train is suspended 3 metres above the ground, lasting 10-15 minutes, featuring VR headset to create a multi-sensory experience all into one attraction.

Before the launch night, the ride had been open for 'technical rehearsals', which allowed the park to test some of the features and allow guests to get a first glimpse of the ride. The ride had been under some stress with the ride opening day being pushed back several times from the original start date due to unforeseen circumstances.

The ride queue line is themed with oil fracking posters, old style clocks, themed music and old lighting. There is also two photo points in the queue line, to make up that there is no photo opportunity on the ride itself. You are given a ticket which you scan for yourself at each photo point. This allows you to see your photos at the end of the attraction. The first photo opportunity is a group photo where you are asked to place your face upon some glass and to stare at a red dot whilst several images flash upon a screen. Where the second photo point is an individual photo where you are checked for infections.

Before you enter the attraction, there is bag drop off zone and an outside waiting area. You are given a quick safety briefing about how actors may touch you but you may not touch them. Then you step inside the attraction...

Derren Brown & the team at Thorpe Park would like to keep the ride a secret and therefore we won't be sharing all of our experiences in the attraction and we highly recommend you try it out. We do say that the attraction is highly unique and uses VR headsets along with live action to create a truly immersive experience. Inside the building, it is very well themed in each and every room and really does set the scene into each room you step in. The story line is very well told through the whole experience.

Below our some images of inside the attraction which don't spoil the experience too much!
