COMPLETE: The Big Sheep | 2019 Review

Updated: Aug 10, 2019

The Big Sheep is an amusement & farm park based in Devon on the South West coast of England. With it being one of the top tourist attractions within the area with it's sheep based puns, we had to make sure we got a visit in! Open through from January to October, the park allows the family targeted audience to watch the unique sheep racing, ride their rollercoaster and other amusement attractions alongside having an onsite brewery.

The park is open daily from 10am - 6pm with prices for adults and children over 3ft being £14.95 on the day however, discounts are offered in advance online. All infomation can be found via The Big Sheep website which is located by clicking the sheep image below!

Rides

Rampage Rollercoaster is the parks only rollercoaster which boasts to be North Devon's biggest, highest & fastest rollercoaster. The 400m long and 13m high ride is a thrilling ride for the younger and family audience. From the ride, you can get some incredible views of the rest of the park and is maybe a good spot to watch the sheep racing from also!

Although this is not the most thrilling rides for adults, there is a moment of airtime on the front or back of the train at different points from the ride, which does give it a slight buzz to adults and older children.

The park also hosts other attractions such as The Twister, Farm Safari Ride, Train Ride & Swan Lake Pedalos amongst other kid friendly attractions.

Shows

The park is jammed packed with shows that fill the whole day to help space out from all of the animals and attractions. From Sheep Shearing, Duck Trials, Milking Show to the legendary Sheep Racing. All of the shows are either educational, fun or both and spaced very shortly after eachother.

Our favourite has to be the Sheep Racing which is hosted once a day. 6 sheep race down the park through several landmarked parts of the course with names such as Bo Peeps Bend & Ewe Turn. The 6 sheep have little jockeys that sit on them as they race down from one end of the park to the other, with a live commentator experience and you can even bet some eweros (or £1) on a sheep. If you do bet on a sheep, you are given a badge to represent the sheep and if you are lucky enough for your sheep to win, you will be awarded a small trophy, with 6 to collect!

Other Attractions

The Big Sheep also host an onsite Brewery & Gin Distillery, which you can purchase award winning ale's & gin from during your day. You can even pick some up to take home with you in the gift shop or store.

They also have Battlefield, which is a live combat action game hosted within the park. Using state of the art infra-red guns, you take to a custom made woodlands course against friends, family or other players in a family friendly experience, fun for all ages. What makes this unique is you can select from several different weapons and you can have a taster course which lasts 10 minutes free of charge.

Overall

Our overall thoughts on The Big Sheep was it's baaaaaarilliant!

The park really offers a great family friendly atmosphere for a fun day out within Devon. Allowing the younger audience to get up and close to animals such as sheep, goats and rabbits whilst riding the Rampage Rollercoaster or experiencing the shows such as the Duck Trials or watching the amazing Sheep Race, the park has it all! Even for adults who can relax and have a pint at the onsite brewery.

We would like to thank The Big Sheep for inviting us to visit the park and we cannot wait to hear further sheep puns from them in the near future. Head over to our social media platforms to let us know what you think of The Big Sheep!
