Screamland Margate Review 2016

We were invited along to attend the press preview of Screamland 2016 at Dreamland Margate, here is our non spoiler review (some images are from inside the attractions).

The Bloody Mirror

Unfortunately this attraction was not available on the press evening. The actors were roaming around for the event though, and they looked incredible, especially Bloody Mary herself! We've been told it's the smaller of the five scare attraction, but a mirror maze with actors inside sounds like a recipe for scares you cannot avoid!

The Paradise Foundation

There was nothing paradise like about this attraction. The creepy and twisted storyline equally matched with the themeing and costumes left us feeling uncomfortable and scared. We were immersed into many different environments trying to find out if we are a patron or a provider and if we were able to find true happiness... also known as bliss.

Themeing & Story: 8/10 | Actors: 7/10 | Scare: 7/10 | Overall: 7/10

Festino's Forgotten Funhouse - King Of Clowns

The only thing forgotten about this place is in the name! The inside is nicely themed and starts off with a great introduction scene warning of what clowns & characters you will come face to face with inside the funhouse. Inside we were really impressed with some of the unique effects with costumes and props that we've never seen before, and the unique ending definitely left us feeling trapped and scared! Certainly a refreshing and well thought out take on the clown/circus themed scare attraction.

Themeing & Story: 7/10 | Actors: 7/10 | Scare: 7/10 | Overall: 7/10

The Final Cut Presents... They Came From Outer Space

This was one of the highlights of the scare season so far for us, all round a truly clever and incredible attraction. The storyline was outstanding as well as the scripted acting in the introductory scenes before you're sent on your way through the big screen and into the movies yourself coming face to face maybe some familiar characters (or creatures), it really was out of this world! Each room immerses you into a different scene, whilst being themed very differently, linking on to the previous room and storyline.

Themeing & Story: 10/10 | Actors: 10/10 | Scare: 9/10 | Overall: 10/10

Dead & Breakfast II - Murder Hotel

Continuing on with Screamland's trend of scripted introductions and scenes, we were given a talk by the somewhat lovely receptionist who felt the need to tell us about her deadly guests, though the humorous innuendos which made the whole group laugh really got us into a false sense of security for what was about to come. Highly themed and plenty of actors, with a mixture of flowing maze sections and stop scenes, including a unique ending really made this a solid attraction.

Themeing & Story: 8/10 | Actors: 7/10 | Scare: 6/10 | Overall: 7/10

Overall, Screamland Margate is one of our favourite events to date with a strong lineup of horror mazes and scare actors. Using unique ways not seen before to scare guests and have some of the best storylines and themeing to match it. We cannot wait to head back in 2017 and see how it compares!
