2017 is officially here, bringing with it another year of theme park developments!

Over in Windsor, Legoland are preparing for the opening of Ninjago World, a brand new area of the park featuring 4 brand new family attractions based on the popular NINJAGO LEGO series. Planned to open in May 2017, NINJAGO World promises to "test balance, agility and speed".

The new area of the park takes over a large part of the park previously occupied by the Loki Labyrinth maze and Longboat Invader ride. In order to make way for this development, the maze will be removed and the Longboat Invader ride relocated. Alongside this, the current Spinning Spider ride is expected to be re-themed to fit in with the NINJAGO theme.

The main attraction - LEGO NINJAGO The Ride - will be housed in a large single storey building taking up the area of the old Loki Labyrinth maze and will take guests on a 4D interactive ride experience. Combining 3D visuals with 4D effects such as heat, smoke and wind, guests will additionally be able to make use of 'Maestro hand gesture technology', enabling them to virtually throw fire balls, shockwaves, ice and lightning using just their hands. During the ride, they will meet characters from the popular franchise and battle against them.

4 people can fit in each ride vehicle, and the ride will be manufactured by Triotech. This matches a recent installation in the LEGOLAND Billund Result which uses the same technology in their NINJAGO Land attraction.

Paired with this, guests will be able to make use of 3 other minor family attractions, including 'Zane's Temple Build' - an area for guests to create LEGO models with NINJAGO sets, 'Kai's Spinners' - spinning platforms for guests to test their balance, and 'Cole's Rock Climb' - a climbing wall for guests to "test their agility".

Of course this new land will also bring new LEGO models, including two five-foot dragons made with 77,280 LEGO bricks, as well as models of the characters from the series!

This development co-insides with the approval to build a haunted house attraction based on the 'Monster Fighters' brand, and an extension of the current hotel, ensuring LEGOLAND a worthy destination in the competitive tourism market.
