In January, Take Me Home Horror Within performed a run of shows in the Barking Broadway Theatre, which took you on one of London's scariest ghost stories in full 360°. We were kindly invited down to experience this unique show which promised to keep us on edge from the start!
Take Me Home is a spine-tingling thriller set in the 1930s which tells the story of a young man, Jacob Ward, who views a house for sale in a deserted village in the south of England. During his visit Jacob is subjected to a variety of hauntings, as the story plays out in full 360 degrees around the audience.
They used some spare space in the foyer to create the set for the show. Limited in space, the team managed to build a great, spooky, haunting set which took you away from a theatre setting and into an olden time village house. When entering into the set, we had to take a seat around a dinner table and then was left with the door shut and tension music building up to the unknown.
The show was performed by multiple professional actors which performed around you and the dinner table. They did not acknowledge you as they performed, which made it feel more real that you was watching a show. Many scenes included high levels of smoke, jump scares, loud noises, strobe lighting and paranormal activities. The show managed to keep you on edge from when you walked in to the set to the moment you walked out.
The lighting was some of the best we have ever seen used in this kind of environment. It really help set the mood during multiple scenes. The special effects such as the paranormal activities and smoke were used cleverly through out and really made the atmosphere more thrilling and spine-tingling!
Overall, this was such a unique, one of a kind show which was created and performed by professionals. After speaking with the creators, they hope to do another run of dates in London in the very near future. We want to wish the team all the best and a massive thanks for an invite!
Keep an eye over on our social media for future dates of this show and future developments.
