On Sunday 15th of January, we were invited down by clueQuest to try out one of their wacky escape rooms.
For those who don't know about clueQuest, it was created back in summer 2013 by four brothers who had a love for puzzles. They came together to create their own mark in this industry by creating the characters, props, puzzles and everything else by themselves.
Now, operating in London near Kings Cross Station and having over 125,000 customers complete there puzzles. They have expanded to three games, based in 9 rooms, with a mixture of difficulty and that is fun for both adults and children! As a traditional escape room, you have 60 minutes to escape the room and complete the mission with the story line revolving around a spy-world of Mr Q trying to defend the world from his nemesis, Professor BlackSheep!
With three different missions to attend, we decided to go for the medium difficulty themed one, which was also the middle one of the series, called Operation BlackSheep. We arrived at the location just before our time slot and took a seat in the waiting area, which had a mixture of activity's to keep you entertained (in case you arrived early).
Once we were ready, we received an intro into clueQuest and the mission we would be completing. "Professor BlackSheep, Mr Q's arch nemesis,has been scheming and plotting against our agency and the whole of mankind. The Professor has built and launched a satellite into Earth’s orbit, capable of controlling all human minds.You and your team will be sent behind enemy lines with the mission to infiltrate into the Professor’s command center, hack into his system and obtain the missile codes in order to destroy the satellite once and for all."
We were then armed with a radio to the control centre, who would help us on our quest (if we needed it) and a pad to write any important information (in case we forgot it). We were then led to our room to start our game!
Without ruining the experience to anybody who has not experienced this escape room, the escape room is cleverly spilt into 3 sections, which we could only access by working out the clues in order. Each puzzle is different from the next with lots of curve balls and distractions along the way, to make us forget the important information! Each puzzle ranged in difficulty, from finding keys to padlocks, codes for the padlocks, building a jigsaw puzzle and hacking the database of Professor BlackSheep!
What makes this escape room so well done is that everything you do in the escape room is controlled by you. Although, you have a game operator watching over your game via CCTV, everything is done by your actions and nobody else's.
As rated the best escape room in London on TripAdvisor, we believe it's a well deserved title with what they have to offer! From building everything themselves to the smooth operation of the games, they will sure be strong contenders in the escape room industry from many years to come!
