Escape Reading - The Bank Robbery - Review 2017

Escape Reading is an escape room company based in Reading Town. They opened in June 2016 and have 2 brain busting escape rooms for the whole family. Based just outside of Reading's town center, it was easily accessible and wasn't too difficult to find! We were invited along to go experience one of the escape rooms, The Bank Robbery!

Once entering the building and meeting up with the friendly team, our experience begun. The Bank Robbery was recommended for 3-6 players. We were given the story line and basic do’s and dont's whilst attempting to escape. The scenario was… “The last time you went into your bank there was a robbery and you became the police investigators prime suspect. You have 60 minutes to find enough evidence to prove your innocence, otherwise you are going to be locked in.” Our team were then lead into the starting room, the door locked and time began.

As like any review, we don't like to spoil the experience (especially for people who are looking to experience the attraction). The experience did have many positives though such as the range of locks they used (different types of padlocks), different types of puzzles with different difficulties and the use of space of the rooms. Our favourite puzzle inside the escape room was the Nerf gun shooting range, which is something we have not seen in any other escape room we've done yet! Some difficulties we did have during our experience was that some puzzles were very difficult and could be seen as very challenging, especially for younger audiences. However, you are provided with a radio for assistance at any point you need clues and if you are falling behind schedule, there is a screen that occasionally supplies hints.

We managed to escape and provided evidence of our innocence just in the nick of time with 1 minute and 7 seconds to spare! Out of all the escape rooms we have currently done, this is more towards the lower end of themeing and total exploration space of the rooms. However, this escape room still has a lot of surprises they can offer and is great attraction for multiple audiences to go experience.
