Around 3 months after the 2016 season finished, news is emerging of the parks' 2017 February half term offerings.
Unlike previous years, Alton Towers will not be opening their theme park for February half term. Instead, the resort will be hosting a Pirate and Princess Week at the on-site hotels, and offering some activities aimed at younger guests, including sword making, face painting, treasure hunt and even den building. Sharkbait Reef Sealife will also be open for February Half Term guests.
Meanwhile, over at Chessington, the park will be hosting 'Animal Adventures', opening only a handful of children's rides to accompany the popular Chessington Zoo and Sealife centre. Some of the rides opening include Sea Dragons and Seastorm, as well as Hocus Pocus Hall. Additionally, Chessington states that there will be some "exclusive animal experiences", which may include activities such as giraffe tours. The park is also keen to advertise the arrival of their three new lion cubs!
Over in Tamworth, Drayton Manor will be hosting a Thomas Land themed event, also focusing on the family guests by opening Thomas Land in its entirety, alongside some family shows and entertainment. All of the thrill rides will be closed.
Both Legoland and Thorpe Park will not be running a February Half Term event. These events, particularly from Merlin parks, have decreased in size from previous years.
Parks outside the Merlin Entertainments group will be open and be running a full service with all rides and attractions open. Parks such as Adventure Island & Blackpool Pleasure Beach will be open from 11th of February, opening on selected dates only. With Paultons Park opening on February 12th with it also opening only on selected dates.
