PASAJE del TERROR (Blackpool) Review

We were recently invited down to test our nerve at PASAJE del TERROR in Blackpool. The horror experience opened 20 years ago in 1998 which has seen various changes over the years, and has become a staple attraction in the seaside resort of Blackpool, located right next to the Pleasure Beach.

"In 2018 Pasaje del Terror celebrates its 20th anniversary in Blackpool. Located in the Casino Building at Pleasure Beach, it has been terrifying its visitors for two decades. The most famous characters from the horror genre come to life within the confines of Pasaje del Terror to produce a unique, terrifying venture where the public become .... THE VICTIM! A theatrical setting arranged into 20 sets and with around 18 actors lurking in the darkness. The realism of the scenes, the multiple special effects and the shocking energy with which these characters appear out of nowhere will leave you breathless and trembling until you find the exit."

Our experience took place on a cloudy but bright Saturday with a cheerful mood from being at the Pleasure Beach. The excitement soon turned to fear, stood in the queue with the unnerving soundtrack playing, before our time was up and the group was called forwards & sent into the unknown. We proceeded down a staircase which built more tension, as the basement of buildings are always scarier. We were briefed on the attraction and sent on our way; we liked how the front of house staff kept in character to help the immersiveness even in the briefing.

The next 10 minutes was an attack of the senses. A mixture of theatrical scripted scenes and typical horror maze sections kept the experience interesting and engaging. The amount & variety of scenes along with the attention to detail really impressed us as we were briefly immersed into each section, some easily recognizable from popular & cult horror movies. We found the quality of acting to be brilliant with various types of scares throughout and some up-close moments; there were plenty of well executed jump scares which had the group screaming & petrified at times!

Overall we really enjoyed PASSAJE del TERROR and had a fun time being scared. It felt a little light on actors in some sections of the experience, but the quality of themeing kept us in awe, and before we knew it were jumping out of our skin again! There's a nice tavern at the end of the experience where you can have a drink and calm down, as well as the perfect opportunity to watch other victims running/crying/screaming out the of the attraction!

We'd like to thank PASAJE del TERROR for allowing us to come down to review Blackpool's scariest attraction and we look forwards to returning in the future!
