COMPLETE: UK Escape Rooms | The Diamond Caper | Escape Room Review

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

UK Escape Games is a UK escape room based company based in two locations, which are Twinlakes Theme Park & Wheelgate Park. It is the perfect location you can enjoy a family day out at the leisure park and mix it up, with a thrilling escape room experience added on!

Each location has different escape rooms and in this case, we visited the one located in Melton Mowbray, Twinlakes Park. Offering 3 escape rooms currently, you can venture into a realistic fire in The Fire, Search & Rescue room or solve the puzzles inside The Nuclear Incident! Instead, we took on the experience inside The Diamond Caper to see if we could escape this large scale escape room!

" You know where the Tuscan diamond is, its worth £50 million. It was stolen 100 years ago. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity! After entering the room you have 60 minutes to break into the bank and steal one of the rarest diamonds in the world! Search the room, find the clues and escape within 60mins! Don’t let us down… "

Long story short, we let them down :(

We went in this room with a team of 4 and was given all of the instruction and pre breifing outside the room, along with the story and objective. Break into the bank, escape with the Tuscan diamond and get out without being spotted and in 60 minutes. Oh, we were also given the advice that if we heard the pink panther music to hide... as it was probably for the best!

The game on a scale of other escape rooms is huge. Split into 6 different sections / rooms, the room kept on given and expanding. Plenty of puzzles of different ranges of diffcuilty from physical to mental, to make sure everybody could work to their strengths. Our favourite start to an escape room where we entered a dimley lit alley and had to escape using tools found in a bin.

Some puzzles took seconds whilst some other puzzles took our whole team 5+ minutes to complete, due to the length and complexity needed for this. It was great being able to split up and solve 2 different puzzles at one time and this helps in a escape room of this large scale. You can swap about and try different puzzles if others are suffering but it puts your team bonding to the test. The escape rooms follows a non linear system meaning, you can solve multiple different puzzles at one time with some being relevant at that time whilst others, will be useful at a later time.

Half way through the escape room, we heard the pink panther music and we obviously decided to hide. We split and decided to hide in different sections of the escape room incase there we did get caught. Although we did not see who came in, they caused a disturbance with the loud bangs, locking the previous room and nearly locking half of us in another room out from the rest of team!

The rooms were themed to a good level with all the puzzles being cleverly intergrated in with the theme. The immersion of breaking into the bank was there with the interaction of the officier looking around when the pink panther music played, to the breaking in to the bank using tools.

As much as we want to spoil and share with you all the puzzles and our experiences, we think you should experience this for yourself. We managed to break into the bank but we didn't get our hands on the diamond. We were just out of time and a handful of puzzles away! It looked like the end including a more futuristic feel with disabling the alarms and other technical alarms & puzzles however, we didn't have the chance to test this out.

With a 60% pass rate, do you think you can escape with the Tuscan diamond in The Diamond Caper? Head over to the UK Escape Games website and book your visit and share this with us over on our social media to let us know how you got on!
