Thorpe Park Resort have pulled out all the stops this summer to provide some of the best events at a UK theme park. With the launch of The Year Of The Walking Dead at the start of the year, summer has brought many further additions to the park. Find out what we thought below of the new Zombie Hunt, what the vibe is like on Amity Beach for Love Island Lates and our views on Ministry Of Sound.
Zombie Hunt
Zombie Hunt was introduced as a summer event at the park and is currently running at the back of the park by Rocky Express and Timber Tug in Old Town. This event is running until the 3rd of September, and you can check out our full review by clicking here (or the image above)
Love Island Lates
Love Island Lates was introduced as an additional event for the summer. Hosted on Amity Beach, you can now experience the life as an islander at Thorpe Park Resort every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from the end of July through to the start of September.
The event promised to include a live DJ, cocktail bar, surprise visits from the Love Island cast, inspired games and for a lucky few, prizes! As we understand, not many were too happy with the IP Thorpe Park have chosen for the summer event however, this is contained just to the Amity Beach and can be easily avoided.
The atmosphere of the event was truely felt, and even for people who do or dont watch Love Island, there was still enough to love on the Amity Beach. The beach being split it two halves allowed Thorpe Park to have two different set ups for the event. On one side of the beach, you have a love island set up for the meet and greets by the famous firepit, a dunk machine, a giant spin the bottle, entertainers to supply the fun and games along with photo backdrops to take a cheeky selfie. Whilst the other side, held the cocktail bar, another bar for other drinks and the DJ playing live club music.
So for all the people who just wanted a fruity cocktail and to enjoy some live music, this still was possible. We loved that Thorpe Park have found another use of the beach through the summer and hope to see this used for future events in the summer!
Ministry Of Sound
Ministry Of Sound is an event that has been running at the resort for a few years now. This event has had it's ups and downs but has been known for it's late openings of the rides until 10pm. This year, with all the other summer events going on in the park, this has allowed guests to still get access to the rides and club night but now, just not exclusively to that event. This allows more for the family audience to join and we believe a smart move by Thorpe Park.
The Ministry Of Sound event runs every Saturday night in August and has ran towards the end of each month leading up until the event. Still held in the dome which is closed off in the evening, this is transformed into the club arena for the evening with a stage and sound and lighting system. The event has such an atmosphere and is great to see them use another place of the park for iconic events.
We were lucky enough to attend 2 events of Ministry Of Sound and this allowed us to see the atmosphere and how it was ran. We can happily say that the event has a change of DJ's for each event, different style of music depending on the night but keeps the same buzzing atmosphere every night.
The Walking Dead Living Nightmare
The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare has opened for the summer holidays. Advertised at the start of the year along with The Year Of The Walking Dead, Saw Alive was due to open for this period of time. Sadly, due to unexpected issues, the resort has been unable to open Saw Alive in time for this. To replace not opening Saw Alive as promised for the summer period, they have reopened The Living Nightmare in it's place.
The maze is still in a strong state with the actor level still being amazing, they have changed the starting room story to continue on from previous. However, we have noticed a lack of actors in the maze (probably due to everybody now remembering the most amount of actors during the extreme version), however this still is an amazing addition and something different to experience in the summer, instead of just the Halloween period.
12 Hours Of Rides
Thanks to all of these events, Thorpe Park Resort is now open for 12 hours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday over the summer. This is something a lot of people have been requesting over the summer period that we get to see longer opening hours. We understand the new events and additions the park have put on may not be to everybodies fancy but, this just allows you to go and get even more rides done in the 12 hour day (or even pop in during the evening after work whilst it's quiet for the odd ride).
We think this is the right step for the resort and cannot wait to see future additions to the events in the future. Thorpe Park Resort still have so much going on through August until early September that you should go check out. Even after then, isn't long until #FrightNights
